Letters of recommendation describe and give examples of your strong qualities, skills and abilities, your commitment to a particular field, and your potential to contribute to that field of study or related careers. Approach people who you think will be able to give strong recommendations like faculty members, supervisors, coworkers , and advisors. Family members are not usually appropriate. Make sure to give your writer relevant information about the school and program you're applying to, your strong qualities and skills, a copy of your resume with student involvement, a list of coursework you've completed with grades (mainly for professors), and pre-addressed envelopes for each school you're applying to. Try to ask for letters at least 4-6 weeks in advance. Career Services Offices recommends using www.Interfolio.com to help you manage and send letters of recommendation and there are multiple different plans to choose from.
