How did you gain experience when you were a student?
My journey has always been guided by three principles: passion, purpose, and a philosophy of giving to others. During my undergraduate years, I leaned into opportunities that connected me with people and purpose. I volunteered both on campus and in the community, joined business clubs, and sought out hands-on learning experiences. My education emphasized experiential learning, which provided invaluable opportunities to develop leadership skills and practical knowledge through collaborations with other students, businesses, and campus departments. Initially focused on a corporate career in HR or as a training specialist, an internship in Admissions sparked my passion for helping others, leading me to pivot toward Higher Education.
How did you become a career development professional?
Education has always been the foundation of my work. Early in my career, I served as a national educator for JMPS, delivering business and career development training to students and professionals across the country,At the same time, I managed my own business, gaining valuable perspective on different work environments and the realities of entrepreneurship.I then served as an admissions advisor for online students, a role that deepened my desire to support learners in meaningful ways. After earning a master’s degree in education, I was ready to take on new challenges. When the chance to focus on career development came, my mentors helped me see how my background in training, education, and advising all pointed naturally toward this work. Helping students explore, prepare, and thrive has become the most fulfilling part of my professional life.
