Welcome to UMN’s Alumni Community!

We are here to help you stay connected to the U, faciliate networking with other alumni and students, and assist you on your career journey.

Most University of Minnesota colleges offer career services for 1-2 years after graduation. Refer to this list of career offices for specifics.

Our most popular event for recent alumni is our annual UMN Job & Internship Fair. It is open to alumni for up to 3 years after graduation. As an alum, you also have lifetime access to Handshake, which lists all career events on campus, many of which are open to graduates.

The University of Minnesota conducts a Post-Graduation Survey (PGS) of its graduates, where we reach out to graduates of undergraduate degree programs to learn about their plans during their first year post-graduation.

The PGS dashboard provides summary data from surveys administered to University of Minnesota undergraduates earning baccalaureate degrees from the Class of 2022. Data includes career outcomes, employment information, and continuing education plans with filters by campus and college.

Highlights from the 2022 survey can be found using the dashboard.

Mentoring is a great way to apply your knowledge and make a difference. There are two easy ways to become a mentor: Join the Maroon & Gold Network, where you can give career-related advice to students and alumni, or join a Collegiate Mentor Program, where you’ll be matched with a student.

Handshake

As an alumni, we encourage you to create an account on Handshake as an employer. Handshake is first place we suggest to post a position, and it will allow you to reach the largest audience of UMN students.

  • Note: As an alumni of the UMN, you already have a student/alumni account with Handshake that you can use to search for jobs. To post a job, you will need to create an employer account.

During the account creation process, Handshake will ask for your alma mater, so that we can showcase you an alumni to our students searching for jobs on Handshake.

Connect with a College or Department

If you are not attracting the candidates you seek on Handshake, or you would like to pursue another route, connect with our Employer Engagement colleagues across our colleges. They can help you determine specific options depending on the type of employment you are offering and the qualifications you are looking for in candidates. See our Office Locations to connect with staff in our collegiate offices.
